•	Brassica oleracea
•	Vegetable
•	50 seeds
•	Calabrese is an heirloom variety that matures in mid to late summer from sowings made earlier in the same year. After the central head is harvested, side shoots follow. Harvest 58-90 days from transplant.
•	Sow seeds outdoors in early spring. In sunny locations, broccoli will grow up to 3 feet tall. Pick as soon as the heads are big enough to use. Harvest all flowers stalks before you see any sign of yellow, which means the tiny buds are about to open.

A seed is a berry, a nut, a lima bean. We eat so many seeds and we also consume their by-product…like a lettuce. We grind seeds into spices, turn them into dyes. Farmers all around the world re-plant the best seeds of their strains–the strongest. On a continual evolution that continues through time, we are simply one benefactor in a long and glorious evolution–an evolution that co-evolved with man. In the hands of master gardeners vegetables that we commonly know now have evolved. Their tender care and the deep understanding of nature–the ecology around them–is part of a relationship based in ritual and gratitude to honor the giving and fecundity of the world. We are the living benefactors. Our entire world depends upon the seed for its daily bread.
